The newest Endeavourian

This is a bit late coming, but it's been a busy week and a bit!

Julie was admitted to Joondalup Hospital on Wednesday afternoon last week to be induced, since she was to be ten days overdue the following day. She started having labour pains in the evening, which developed into full contractions at about 2am.

The labour was going well until around 8am. However, after another 2 hours it wasn't progressing, and at around 10.30am the obstetrician decided that an emergency caesarean delivery was needed.

So, at 11.36am on Thursday September 21, Jules gave birth to a beautiful baby girl, Rachel Margaret. Rachel weighed in at 7 pounds 11 ounces (3.49 kilos), and was 51cm in length. Throughout the labour, all of Rachel's vital signs were excellent - she had decided that she was still quite happy in her comfortable little world, thankyou very much, and there was no way she was coming out voluntarily.

Jules has been incredible through all of this, and is currently being further tested by mastitis. She's doing really well, but is understandably quite sore and very tired. The main problem that we're facing now is who Rachel will be supporting tomorrow ...

Hopefully I'll be back at Rotary next week to show you some more photos. Right now, though, I'm off to take a nap.

Yours in Rotary
Chris
