Not too good at selfies

Motor Pavilion

What an experience in more ways than one.  We had 20 volunteers filling 8 shifts over the 4 days of the event.  It was a huge learning curve for us as well as for the organiser, Chris Osborne.  Many of us had never used a cash register before, let alone a credit card scanner.  Those of us on the first shift had the delight of using a very antiquated system initially.  We had touch screen lap tops that were very slow to respond, at least six screens to navigate before the transaction was completed and card readers that did not take debit cards and did not produce a receipt.  Fun and games for the first few hours, but luckily for us, the organiser had another system as back up that worked much better.

There were 41 brands of cars exhibited.  The top end luxury brands were in a separate section, but those close to the front of the area were easily seen.  There was a charge of an additional $35 if you wanted to enter the area they were in and get up close and personal with a Lambourghini, Mazzerati or the all electric Teslas.  You even got a glass of Pol Roget Champagne to sip as you browsed.

"State of the Art" scanner ???

First time out for our new club flags

The event was also a great lesson in customer servvice.  What most people saw as good value, a few saw as a rip off and did not hesitate to let us know.  All complaints were very professionally handled and I think there were very few who came to us that still went away unhappy.

The best bit was at the conclusion of the event when Chris donated $2,000 to the club which will go to the Rotary Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder project championed by the Rotary Club of Osborne Park.
