Melanie honoured by her village in Kenya

Melanie Peyian, the RCWE sponsored student, was recently honoured by her village in Kenya. Melanie is the first person in Kimuka to graduate from university and become a doctor. Melanie expressed her gratitude to RCWE for making this possible and is determined to help her village in the future.

Maasai education receives a boost in Kenya

Much needed protection from the elements was constructed at the school at Kimuka, Kenya during December 2021 – January 2022. The roofed area in the grounds of the Kimuka school is now used by children and teachers for a number of activities, including classes as indicated in the photograph below. Kimuka is located in a poor area outside of the Kenyan capital Nairobi. Its residents appreciate all the help they can get to educate their children, particularly through a Rotary Australia World Community Service project managed by the Rotary Club of Western Endeavour. Funds for this structure were from the Rotary Club of Matilda Bay, Rotary’s earlyact and with a private donation from Marcus and Caroline Harris.
