Rotary Zone Meetings Clubs Working Together

The Rotary Club of Western Endeavour is in Rotary District 9455, which is the largest in area in the world. District 9455 covers nearly all of the State of Western Australia that is 2.9 million square kilometres. The District has just over 50 Clubs from Perth to the far north of Western Australia.

The Rotary Club of Western Endeavour is located in Zone 1 of District 9455 consisting of the following Clubs:

  1. RC Bay View Claremont
  2. RC Crawley
  3. RC Dalkeith
  4. RC Elizabeth Quay
  5. RC Matilda Bay
  6. RC Mosman Park-Cottesloe
  7. RC Nedlands
  8. RC West Perth
  9. RC Western Endeavour

For the past two years Michele Alexander (Assistant Governor) and Judy Dinnison (Assistant Governor) have held Zone1  Meetings every 3 months at the Mosman Park Men's Shed hosted by the RC Mosman Park-Cottesloe.

The Zone Meetings allow Clubs to discuss what projects they are doing and whether other Clubs can assist in these projects. This is especially so if Clubs are taking on large projects that require significant funding or people power. Attending Meetings also generates enthusiasm when you see what other Clubs are doing to help people in need and the environment.

The major project for each Club is: Bay View Claremont - Raising funds for melanoma research; Crawley - Homelessness in Perth; Dalkeith - raised $110,000 for a range of charities including new bus for the Bali Eye Clinic; Elizabeth Quay - working with the St Vincent De Paul Centre and homeless people; Matilda Bay - Rotary Cord Blood Bank; Mosman Park-Cottesloe - Russell Brown Adventure Park in Mosman Park; Nedlands - All Abilities Play Space; West Perth - Medical Equipment Recycling Committee; Western Endeavour - Balga Senior High School support and FASD with RC Osborne Park.

Rotary does so many projects about helping those in need at a local, national and international level. Many people and communities benefit from Rotary's support.

Finally I wish to thank Michele and Judy (photograph above) for their encouragement, dedication to Rotary and making a difference for so many people. In the next Rotary Year, starting in July, Judy will become the Secretary for District 9455, working with the incoming District Governor Charles Johnson from the RC of Matilda Bay. Also we wish to take this opportunity to thank District Governor Lindsay Dry for his massive effort during 2017/18.

Young minds matter... Australian Rotary Health would love you to join us at his year’s Mental Illness Forum and networking cocktail party to thank our Rotary Clubs and donors for their support, and allow researchers and clinicians to network and discover more about ARH research grants.

Every year 1 in 5 Australians suffer a mental illness, with suicide being the biggest killer of young Australians. Through research, we hope to change these figures.

Our key note speaker Associate Professor David Lawrence (Principal research fellow in the Graduate School of Education, UWA) says mental disorders are among the most common and disabling health conditions affecting children and adolescence today.

“Young Minds Matter" surveyed over 6,000 families with children aged 4-17 years around Australia. We examine how mental disorders impact children’s development and learning, and what types of help children need, and receive,” Associate Professor David Lawrence said.

You can help continue the conversation about mental health by attending the Lift the Lid on Mental Illness: Young Minds Matter forum. Those who attended last year found the event inspiring, and we hope that you will encourage other Rotary members to attend, with you, this year. Those who could not attend last year missed a great event, and we hope that you will attend this year.
