The Rotary Club of Western Endeavour celebrates its 20 year anniversary in 2022. In celebration, club members dined at the Royal Freshwater Yacht Club rooms overlooking the Swan River. Long term RCWE members, Laurie Dender and John Boxall, presented an overview of the club’s history and some insights into its diverse and vibrant membership. RCWE takes pride in its contribution to local and international projects and the impact it has had on society in target areas.

RCWE visits Rotary Club of Collie
Twenty RCWE members, family and friends visited Collie on the weekend of 16-17 October 2021. They were welcomed by Rotary Club of Collie members who organized and excellent program of events for the weekend. Led by Past President John Bylund and current president Neil Martin, the Collie club showed us most of the 40 murals in Collie, the underground mine exhibition, open cut mines, Collie museum, Collie art gallery, Minningup Pool, Lake Kepawarri, the giant Premier mine shovel and other scenic parts of the Collie area. For some, the highlight was a “race” around the Collie Motorplex in our bus. A visit to Collie is recommended for all who haven’t visited. The 8000 sqm Wellington dam Mural, “Reflections” is just stunning. And if you have other preferences Gnomesville is nearby!

Cans for Christmas collection 2021 Thank you to all residents who assisted the Cans for Christmas collection on 05 December, 2021. Members, family and friends of the Rotary Club of Western Endeavour (RCWE) banded together during the week leading up to Sunday 05 December to hand out flyers to households in Daglish, Jolimont, Subiaco, Wembley and West Leederville. Residents were requested to leave non-perishable food at their gate for pickup on Sunday 05 December. On collection day, 25-30 collectors visited informed households to pick up their contributions. People left cans, bags and jars of food at the front of their properties. This was loaded into volunteers vehicles and delivered to a members garage where it was sorted and placed into 240 litre wheelie bins for delivery to Foodbank. Six hundred and ninety eight (698) kg was collected for distribution to the needy. Foodbank consider this amount of food is equivalent to 1258 meals. Foodbank were indeed happy to receive such generous donations. Below is a photograph of some of the food collected and a few of the volunteers who helped. Thank you also to the volunteers.
